Please see plain text version of this blog post below: Volunteer Week 2024

A Massive thank you to our volunteers

We couldn’t do it without you! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your incredible dedication and generosity. Every week, you come together to cook delicious three-course meals for those in need, helping to combat loneliness, isolation, and hunger in our community.

Every week Your hard work, passion, and kindness make a tremendous difference in the lives of so many people including ours. The smiles, gratitude, and warmth you bring to our community meals are truly priceless.

Starting 2024 as we mean to go on Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and our canteen leaders we’ve made a huge difference this year already.

So far we’ve had:

·      370 plus volunteers

·      1362 guests attended

·      And saved 1158kg of food waste from landfill.

There’s always room for more! Want to spend the day with us? There’s always a spot in our kitchen for those who want to give back. Just click on the link below!

Volunteer Stories

A special mention to those who have helped us along the way.

Peter not only makes desserts that our guests rave about, but he brings a sense of calm and positivity to the kitchen as well as strong relationships with our guests.

Fanny has consistently volunteered with us, connecting with guests, always making an effort to say hello and ensures they always have everything they need.

Aaron shows a great commitment in continuing to volunteer with us on his journey to becoming a chef and brings a great willingness to get involved as well as some great ideas for the menu.

Martha has only been with us a short while but we really have appreciated their passion and drive and we hope they become a longstanding volunteer with us.

Liz has attended the most sessions in the Clapham canteen and is always a delight to work with. She's hard-working, great with the guests and drums up great energy amongst volunteers. She's been instrumental in spreading the word amongst other people, including her husband Ray who is a regular volunteer and her fellow nursing colleagues and friends.

Daisy is a fantastic volunteer who has attended many of the Clapham canteen sessions. She throws herself into tasks outside of her comfort zone and is a brilliant asset amongst the teams that she's worked in. She always brings a fun energy which relaxes the other volunteers and sets a warm tone for the sessions. Outside of Be Enriched she works for a host of other voluntary organisations demonstrating she really has a passion for supporting people within the local community.

We’d also love to give a special mention to a couple of our most longstanding and dedicated volunteers Bridget & Sim from our Tooting Canteen.

As Volunteer Week 2024 rolls in, we not only reflect, but look forward to another year of volunteering at Be Enriched. Thank you to everyone who has come along for the ride - and to those we haven’t met yet, what are you waiting for? Step into the kitchen and come and say hello!
